West ElmFairfax, VA
Sachse Construction led the construction of West Elm in Fairfax, Virginia. This project included a store buildout of an entire first floor of a new mixed-use facility. Because residential units were simultaneously under construction on the floors above the store, coordination was a key element to this project. One of the main challenges was the scheduling and coordination of the building’s shared loading dock. To overcome the issue at hand, Sachse Construction and the general contractor overseeing the apartment units worked in tandem to create a delivery schedule that suited both projects.
This project incorporated 140 feet of linear storefront with an exterior architectural metal panel. The metal panel used had a lead time of 19 weeks. Since this panel was an essential element to West Elm’s exterior, the team decided to seek alternative solutions. They quickly found another vendor who could create a custom metal panel and deliver it with a six-week lead time, which saved time on the project. In the end, the client was very satisfied with Sachse Construction’s ability to proactively find solutions that prevented obstacles from occurring.
